Shared 'Virtual' Host?

hi

any way to use hastymail on a shared virtual host, with no direct server access?

thanks

Re: Shared 'Virtual' Host?

It is possible but would not be easy. You would have to generate the hastymail2.rc file on another system. Also you would need the ability to uncompress a zip or tar.gz file on the server using whatever sort of admin interface you have (or upload the already uncomressed source which is a LOT of files). Some of the default settings would need to change and some folders would need to be created with certain permissions. There have been a few requests for an admin type of plugin and one of the advantages of that would be the ability to make the process of installing on a shared virtual host easier. Currently we don't have an admin plugin yet though.

Re: Shared 'Virtual' Host

uncompress after upload? no problem

create folders with special permissions? can do.

change default settings? i can do htaccess and php.ini. is that what you mean?

generate the rc file on another system? can YOU do that, and make it available for download (with, if necessary and possible, a separate textfile to adjust configs after generation?)? OR, can you post instructions so i can generate on my Windows pc, and upload to linux host? (but a pre-generated download would be sweeter).

thanks

Re: Shared 'Virtual' Host

I can put the rc file generator up on this site at some point this week so you can use it to create the final config. When I do I will respond to this thread.

Thanks for the feedback,

re: precompiled

Sorry for the delay. I posted the config file generator here:

 http://www.hastymail.org/web_install_config.php

You should be able to use it to create the hastymail2.rc file

Re: bad URL
