Update time again. There have been a handful of fixes as well as some more testing and feedback since the last news update. Enough to warrant a snapshot release on the Download page. Unless something unusual happens I expect this snapshot to be very similar to the next official release. Speaking of which I think it is about time to switch from beta releases to release candidates, and I hope to get an RC-1 out within the next week or two. Thanks again to everyone who has been checking out Hastymail and providing feedback. As of now all reported bugs are fixed and my list of to-do items is primarily housekeeping.
We are pleased to announce a new Hastymail2 beta release. Many issues have been resolved since the last release, and quite a bit has been done in SVN since the last news update. The CHANGES file in the source has all the details of whats new since the beta 2, and the following updates to SVN pick up where the last news update left off. Thanks to all the folks supplying great feedback and bug reports, keep up the good work!
We are happy to announce the second release candidate of Hastymail2. The changes since RC 1 are all over, and while mostly fixes some are "missing" features that did not require major code changes to implement. New development has shifted to plugins as we try to solidify the core code as we near our first stable release. This release has 3 new plugins worth checking out:
After 5 months of development the first release of Hastymail2 is ready. This release is a beta version to expand our test base and work out kinks as we move toward a stable version. We are excited to release this code and invite anybody interested to give it a try and share your thoughts and feedback. This version will be followed by at least 2 more beta releases before we start putting together candidates for a stable series.
It's been just over a week since the second release candidate was put together and overall things are looking good. We had a nice bump in activity and have already put in place a handful of fixes to SVN that address some newly reported issues. As always thanks to everyone who has given the code a try and supplied feedback. RC2 had a few more changes than I anticipated so this next release will be more limited to bug fixing. I had hoped that after RC3 we would be seriously considering our first stable release but because things have not settled down quite as much in SVN as I would like, I am now thinking we will go up to RC4 at least before declaring a stable release. Here is the latest from the CHANGES file since RC2 came out:
It has been a busy January for Hastymail2 development. We are happy to announce that the fourth release candidate of Hastymail2 is available for download. This release contains several bug fixes to the core code with most of the new development going on in plugins. This includes some fixes and updates to existing plugins the most notable of which is event support for the calendar plugin, as well as 2 new additions since RC3, the "notices" and "news" plugins. Also the main javascript includes have been compressed and combined to reduce the overall page load time. Thanks to everyone who has provided feedback and testing. We appreciate your support. Read on for the full list of changes since RC3.
It's been about a month since the first beta release of the new Hastymail code and I am happy to announce the second beta version is ready for download. I had hoped to have some more plugin development done by this point but if nothing else, thanks to all the helpful feedback from testers, many issues reported after the first beta release are corrected.
I am happy to announce that the third release candidate of Hastymail2 is now available. The rewrite of Hastymail began at the beginning of this year with the first SVN check-in date of January 9th 2008. I had hoped to have a stable release by the end of the year but we are not quite there yet. We have made significant progress however and I am really pleased with how things are going. Testing and feedback have been great and I think this is the best version of Hastymail yet! Thanks to everyone who has supported the project. Here are the changes since RC 2 followed by a link to download Hastymail2 at Sourceforge.
We are happy to announce that the fifth release candidate of Hastymail2 is now available. This version has a lot of great updates since the last release. As always thanks to everyone supporting the project with suggestions and feedback. Here is the change log for RC5:
We are happy to announce that Hastymail2 RC8 has been released. The updates and improvements since RC7 are substantial. New plugins, theme improvements, new features, a ton of fixes, plugin API updates, and more. The change log has 65 entries total. We believe this to be the best version of Hastymail2 yet and urge all users to upgrade. Thanks as always to everyone who has supported the project through feedback and testing.
